    The 15th Annual Keene Ice and Snow Festival, presented by the Monadnock Travel Council, takes place on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 10am to 4p.m. in downtown Keene.

    GSAs can volunteer at the NH Information Booths, which will be set up at Central Square at the top of Main Street (Gazebo area) and on Railroad Square. Booths will have information from the NH Division of Travel and Tourism, Keene Chamber, local Monadnock Region information as well as Keene Ice & Snow Festival Events Map and Information.

    Due to the fact that the booths are outside, it was thought that 2 hour shifts would work best. Feel free to sign up for more than one if you wish to stay longer.

    Please remember that this is an outside booth. Dress warm in layers, coat, gloves, scarf, hats, heavy socks etc. it is very cold outside this time of year. A break will be given from time to time to go inside the Keene Chamber office to get warm.

    When you arrive, go to the Keene Chamber Office for sign in and to pick up event parking pass for dash of front windshield. If for some reason you get a parking meter ticket. Please leave at Chamber office for Jim or give to Jim. Sorry if this happens, as we try to prevent this from happening. THANKS.

    GSA Shifts: 6 volunteers per shift (3 people per booth); 8am to 10am set up; 10am to Noon, Noon-2pm; 2-4pm

    Duties: Assist guests with event and area information - brochures, maps, and

    directions. Re-stock booth. There will be a Festival/Map Information Sheet that will have a lot of pertinent information, time schedule etc. This will be the main piece of information for the festival and you will be given one as soon as you check in and I will have ready a few days before the festival to e-mail to you. It will be our goal to help visitors in using it. We will also have set-up and breakdown shifts. The booth is outdoors so please dress accordingly.

    Uniform: Regular GSA uniform (GSA uniform shirt / khaki pants) and dress in layers as it can be very cold outside. There will be a warming station and bathrooms inside the Greater Keene Chamber of Commerce with a key for access. The bathrooms at the Keene Chamber are for GSA volunteers and Keene Chamber Board DirectorsStaff (have their own key. Please make sure the door is kept locked. There will be a person or two maintaining the Chamber office for sign in etc. for the entire event.

    Parking: Please find a parking place on Main Street or around Central Square which is at the top end of Main Street where the Big White Church is. Pick up your pass at the Keene Chamber of Commerce. Second building in (48 Central Square) on the left side of Central Square next to Pedraza’s Mexican Restaurant(Bright Gold-Yellow-Orange Color).

    Directions from Manchester 101 West. Follow 101 West all the way to Keene, NH. At the 2nd set of lights coming into Keene bare on to Main Street. Head straight up Main Street and go straight through the roundabout to the top of Main Street. The circle around the top is Central Square. Find parking and info is in “Parking” listed above.

    Directions from Concord NH– Rte 9 West to Keene NH. When coming into Keene take a

    left exiting off of Rte 9 West onto Washington Street. Come all the way down Washington Street will see Bank of America on right as you bare right onto Central Square. Find parking and The Keene Chamber(48 Central Square) will be on the right as you go around Central Square to head down Main Street.

    There will be bottled water, coffee and snacks that will be put inside the Keene Chamber of Commerce. Please make sure that your belongings are secure and watched while at the fair. It is strongly suggested not to bring handbags.

    We are looking for Granite State Ambassadors to volunteer at “New Hampshire’s Greatest Winter Fair!”

    Expo dates: February 16 - 18, 2017

    There is always something for everyone at the NH Farm and Forest Expo: it's an industry trade show with nearly 100 exhibitors, hosts free educational workshops that are open to the public, unique NH Made products, Kidzone area with fun activities for the kids, fuzzy and furry animals, lots of networking and much more!

    The Expo itself is a non-profit organization, overseen by a volunteer board of directors representing agriculture and forestry interests statewide.

    Hours for GSA Volunteers (most shifts are about 3 hours long):

    • Thursday, February 16 (EXHIBITOR LOAD IN): 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. 
    • Friday, February 17: 7:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.
    • Saturday, February 18: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

    GSA Duties

    All GSAs and Future Leaders of NH are eligible to volunteer.

    • Exhibitor Registration Booth – Pass out exhibitor packets and passes, answer questions. NOTE: This position is very busy first thing in the morning on Friday and Saturday, you will have a long line of people waiting for passes
    • Back Door Monitor – Before the show opens on Friday and Saturday, make sure that only exhibitors are entering the hall through the back doors
    • Ticket Sales/Register – Sell tickets using the cash registers
    • Hand Stamper – Stamp hands after guests pay
    • Expo Support – Walk around the Expo in your designated section, assisting guests and exhibitors as needed
    • Room Monitor – Sit in office, checking in educational session presenters and showing them where to store equipment, coats, etc. 
    • Kidzone – Keep an eye on the Kidzone area, helping presenters and guests, keeping the area neat, and helping families take photos
    • NH Tourism Booth – Staff the NH Tourism Booth, representing the NH Division of Travel & Tourism. Pass out state literature and answer guest questions about things to do and see in NH

    Parking Info for Volunteers: Parking for GSA volunteers has been generously donated by the Radisson. If you park in the garage, please remember to bring your ticket inside with you.

    If the garage is full when you arrive, there is on-street parking (free on Saturdays, except for Elm St., $0.75 per hour otherwise) or several other garages a few blocks away from the Radisson. 

    Orientation Information: Please plan to attend the orientation meeting on Thursday, February 16 at 11 a.m., even if you have volunteered at this event before. Event orientations give the event managers the opportunity to address the volunteers in person with up-to-date information about the Expo. There will be a tour of the Expo hall following the orientation. Attendees will receive one volunteer service hour.

    Useful Links

    Dress code: GSA uniform – Green GSA shirt, name tag, and khaki pants. Remember to wear comfortable shoes and dress in layers, since parts of the Expo Center can be chilly. Extra layers should be worn underneath GSA shirt if possible. No purses, pocketbooks or backpacks please. Fanny packs are allowed.

    Event difficulty level: Please expect to stand for your entire shift. If you need to get off your feet for a moment Naomi or one of the Expo Support volunteers can cover your position.


    • Volunteer hours count as event hours for perks (such as the Indian Head Resort Perk)
    • Come early or stay late after your shift to enjoy the Expo free of charge
