NHGSA VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION
What to wear:
This is a no uniform event, although a name tag is helpful. Come how you are comfortable and have a great time. Festive holiday wear is encouraged! Wear appropriate footwear for farm tour and hay rides.Directions:
Stonewall Farm is located at 242 Chesterfield Rd in Keene. Google maps will get you there just fine, here's a link for directions: https://goo.gl/maps/PnCG7wcixdL2
UPDATE: I had a message from Stonewall farm about getting there and where to park that I wanted to pass along, there is a bridge closure that could affect your route.
Here's the message:
GPS has been telling most visitors to take Whitcomb's Mill Rd. to get to the farm. However, the bridge there is closed and traffic cannot get through. So, they should plan to come via Route 9, which connects directly to Chesterfield Rd. or via Arch Street, which turns into Chesterfield Rd. (And a quick note about Whitcomb's Mill - the signage indicating the bridge closure is inadequate - most people don't see it until they've actually made the turn.)
The Learning Center (where the party is) is located across the road from the barns. The parking lot here can accommodate approximately 75 cars, include utilizing parking around the apron of the driveway. (They would need to pull straight into these spots, as opposed to parking parallel to the driveway.) If we run out of parking space on this side of the road there is additional room to park at the dairy barn.
Farm tours can accommodate 15 people and are about 45 minutes long. Expect to be walking around the farm and standing the whole time. We will run three tours, one at 11 a.m. (before lunch), one directly after lunch, and another after that.
Hay rides in a horse-drawn wagon can accommodate 10-12 people and are 20-30 minutes long. There will be 3-4 hayrides, depending on how much rest the horses need in between each one, all after lunch.
The NH Trivia Game will challenge your knowledge of New Hampshire, enable you to meet new GSAs, and winning teams will earn extra entries in the door prize drawing! It's a bar-style trivia game, we'll divide players into teams of 3-4 and each team will write the answer to the questions on a piece of paper, with correct answers earning a point. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins!
Lunch will be served around noon, and Denise Meadows, of CC & D’s Kitchen Market (and also a GSA) will be catering. You may remember them from our 20th Anniversary Celebration - the GSAs in attendance went crazy over their BBQ samples!
Door prize drawing will happen around 2 p.m., after the last trivia game ends. If you are on a hayride or tour at that time don't worry, if your name is drawn we will hold your prize for you until you return.
Because of space and time limitations, we are asking that you choose either a farm tour or a hayride. The trivia game will run twice, once before lunch and once right after, so there will be plenty of time for everyone to try it. Please e-mail Naomi before 9 a.m. on Monday, 11/13, and give her your first three choices of farm tour or hayride. She will do her best to accommodate everyone's first or second choice. Please also note if you are traveling with anyone. She will reply to you by the end of the day on Monday to let you know when your tour or hayride will be.
Here are the options:
If you have any questions before the party, you can e-mail Naomi (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call her at 566-3030.Thank you so much to our sponsors: Stonewall Farm, CC & D’s Kitchen Market, and the Monadnock Travel Council.
